There are three types of resources in BigML from the point of view of authorization:
- Private resources: only accessible by authorized users (the owner and those who have been granted access by him or her).
- Public resources: accessible and clonable as private resources to any user through the gallery.
- Shared resources: accessible through a secret link.
Thus, a username is needed to guarantee the correct access to all the available remote resources. Only retrieval of resources shared through a secret link is possible with no username. Currently, the BigML bindings expect some credentials to be provided (username and API Key) to ensure full access to all the BigML API capabilities. Providing an alternative username and API key can be an option to access a list of sources in read-only mode.
