On January 22, 2018, we removed the Development (DEV) mode from the BigML Dashboard and API to improve BigML’s usability. Back in 2012 we launched the DEV mode as a playground for free resources, so you could first learn by practicing with toy resources and, when ready, move to the Production (PROD) mode to work with your real models. However, after we introduced the ability to organize resources into Projects, we realized that DEV mode was no longer necessary, as you could also create specific projects to play with the platform in PROD mode. Moreover, we saw that some users were confused about having two environments to choose from Production (PROD) and DEV.
This is why we removed the DEV mode, but kept your DEV resources safe. They are available from your Dashboard and API so that, as usual, you have full access to work with them. We moved your existing resources created under the DEV mode to the environment where your Production (PROD) resources reside:
- If your DEV resources did not have any custom project names assigned, we placed them all under a new project named BigML DEV Resources Archive.
- If you already had DEV resources organized in various projects you named yourself, we fully preserved those projects and tagged your migrated DEV projects as "dev-archive" so you can easily filter them.
